CBCT Tutorials
Thank you for your referral and confidence in our office. As a service to you, we upload your patient’s CBCT 3D Images in the HIPAA compliant, ShareFile by Citrix. If you haven’t done so already, you will receive an activation email from Citrix ShareFile. Simply create an account and you will receive alerts when your patients’ 3D imaging data is uploaded and ready for you to view. ShareFile is an online file system that can handle larger files and is simple to use. It’s bank-level data encryption secures your files.
The CBCT 3D Images can be viewed with a free software from Carestream. We upload a copy of the free software in the ShareFile. The images are available for you to download and will be deleted after 3 months.
Below are some helpful tutorials. Feel free to contact Dr. Greene or Talitha with any questions.
How to Activate an Account
Step 1: Activation Email
You will receive an activation email from Citrix ShareFile. Simply click on the link in the email to set-up your free, HIPAA Compliant account.
If you lost your activation email or for some reason you did not receive it, please call Talitha (765-649-1277) and we can resend it for you. We will use the email that we have listed for your office.
Step 2: Create a Secure Password
You will create your password for your free ShareFile account. Since this is a secure, HIPAA compliant account, we will not have access to your password.
You can reset your password at any time by clicking on the “Forgot Password” in the login screen.
Step 3: Login
Once you set-up your pasword, you will be directed to your Citrix ShareFile account. You will see a shared folder from us in your account. Inside the folder will have all of your patients’ CBCT files.
The CBCT files are available for you to download in the ShareFIle folder for 3 months.
How to View the CBCT
Step 1: Download the Patient’s File
Login to your HIPAA Compliant Citrix ShareFile account and click on the file you would like to download onto your computer.
If you need us to resend the activation email, please call Talitha (765-649-1277)

Step 2: Download the Free Viewing Software
If this is the first time view the 3D images on your computer, you will need to download the free 3D Viewer Software. It’s easiest to download the file onto the desktop. For this tutorial, we will use the desktop as our method.
A.) The patient’s file is downloaded onto your computer as a “zip” file. Right click on the patient’s file and select “open”.
B.) Right click on the “Setup3DViewer” and select “open”, select the button “Extract all” and the button “Extract”.
*Skip ahead to step 4 if you have already installed the software onto the computer that you are using.
Step 3: Setup the Viewing Software
Right click the “Setup3DViewer” and select “open”. Select a language and click the button “OK”.
*Skip ahead to step 4 if you have already installed the software onto the computer that you are using.
Step 4: Unzip the Patient’s File
If you already have a software on your computer to unzip the file then use that software. Or you can use the method in this step. It doesn’t matter which method you choose.
A.) You will need to create a new file on your desktop. Right click on the desktop and select new folder. Name with your patient’s name.
B.) Right click the patient’s zip file on your computer’s desktop. Right click the “Vol_1” and select “open”.
C.) We now need to transfer all of the files from the zip file to the newly created file on the desktop. Go to the zip file and open. Select the first file and scroll down to the last file. Push the “shift” key and click with the mouse. This will highlight all files in the folder.
D. ) Drag the files to the new patient file.
Step 5: Open the Patient’s CBCT File in the Viewing Software
Now it’s time to view the 3D images.
A.) Right click the “CS 3D Imaging” icon that is on your desktop and select “open”. The viewing software will open.
B.) A box will pop open to select the patient’s file to start with. Sometimes the last patient that you viewed will open. If you do not want that patient, simply select the other file on your desktop. When you’re in the right patient’s file, select the first slice of the scan (DCM file) to get started.
Tip: Using the Mouse Wheel
If you want to go through all of the 3D slices in the file, you will need to change the mouse settings in the software to “slide” instead of zoom. You do not have to manually open each slice, you only have to change the mouse settings in the software to “slide”.
